Forming a Local Arts Council
QAC is committed to supporting regional communities. Why not join our network of Local Arts Councils to support and enhance the quality of life in your community? We have developed a consultative application process to help you.
Assistance is provided with all stages of your application to ensure that you have strong local support for your vision.
Communities interested in forming a Local Arts Council can start the process by asking for the How to Form a Local Arts Council Kit which contains corporate materials such as:
* Queensland Arts Council programs and services directories
* Annual Report
* Ontour Newsletter
* Application Form
* QAC’s Strategic Plan
* Affiliation Agreement and Model Rules
The application is in two parts:
Expression of Interest (Part A) - This part is completed in order to notify QAC of interest in forming a Local Arts Council.
QAC’s senior staff will discuss the application, bearing in mind the quality of the application, the community’s proximity to other Local Arts Councils and QAC’s ability to service an LAC in that community with appropriate resources. A QAC representative will then contact the applicant and if appropriate, arrange to visit their community.
Application Form (Part B) - This part would be completed should it be agreed that an application be made to the Board of QAC to form a Local Arts Council.
This application form should only be completed after broad community consultation and participation in a facilitated meeting with a QAC representative that results in the proposed LAC creating a Strategic Plan.
This has proved a useful exercise in focusing the community’s aims, capabilities and aspirations and gives both parties an indication of the organisation they are about to embrace as an Affiliate member.
