Maryborough Regional Arts Council

The Maryborough Regional Arts Council strives to assist in fulfilling the Queensland Arts Council mission. To achieve our participation goals in doing this we:

- Hold a monthly meeting to discuss arts events and ensure our schedule is relevant and vibrant

- Provide free tickets to events in Maryborough targeted at encouraging, in the main, youth’s interest in the arts

- Organise regular event such as the monthly movie night; Jazz by the River twice a year; sausage sizzle to promote and welcome new members; Christmas party with a new theme each year and in keeping with the arts

 - Actively encourage schools to undertake performance within the arts and we promote their productions

- Promote other Regional Arts Councils’ events

We recognise the need to grow our membership to obtain a diversity of arts interests; and ideas. To this end we welcome all interested people and emphasise that we do not limit our regional groups to artists.

Your Maryborough Regional Arts Council Committee needs you. Do you have experience and skills in managing projects or people that you would like to share? Or would you like to learn from other members’ experience and skills? If so please contact Christine Gorrie, our President.

Your Regional Arts Council is an organisation and like any organisation requires people to drive it. The Maryborough Regional Arts Council is involved in organising events, managing projects, accounting and management in general. You can involve yourself as much or as little as you like and you can get on the job training if you want. If involvement for a year appeals we are currently seeking a Treasurer and a Publicity Officer. Shorter projects could see you backstage at the Brolga Theatre meeting artists and performers.

Come on, be an active part of it! This year will be a particularly exciting one, with the 10th anniversary of the Brolga Theatre marking an important milestone in the history of the arts in the region.
